How is it relevant now?
Plagiarism and the internet
•The Internet now makes it easy to find
thousands of relevant sources in seconds.
•in the space of a few minutes
plagiarists can find, copy, and paste together an entire term paper or essay or
even any artwork because much of the material online is produced by other
students.
•It is often difficult or impossible for
educators to identify plagiarism based on expectations of student-level work.
•It is simple to save a web page
designed by someone else and use it as your own.
•Adding copyrights to images can help,
but it is impossible to know who has taken your things unless you are
constantly looking for them.
•Many users are unaware of copyright
laws and that they are violating them by using your work.
•A simple email after looking up the
site owner is usually enough to deter them.
We showed an example that happened to me when i designed a logo 3 years ago to a photography group and then a university plagiarized it for their photography exhibition:

a click of the mouse.
How is it relevant in Saudi Arabia?
•All countries have some form of plagiarism policies, however no two countries have the exact same plagiarism laws and some countries are worlds apart in how they deal with plagiarism.
•Up until now here in KSA there are no rule against plagiarism and designers didn’t have any rights to protect their work from stealing. KSA more than 10 years ago agreed to follow the rules of plagiarism so any designer can protect his work now but it’s still not strictly applied.
